How do I extract colors from an image?
Drop an image onto the page, paste it from your clipboard, or upload it. ColorFetcher instantly pulls the dominant colors with a median-cut algorithm — and if you need one exact pixel, hover the image and the magnifying eyedropper shows its hex code; click to fetch it.
Is ColorFetcher really free and private?
Yes. No ads, no signup, no paywall. Everything runs in your browser — your images are never uploaded to a server, and your history is stored only on your own device.
What export formats are supported?
HEX lists, CSS variables, Tailwind config, SCSS, JSON, a PNG palette card for slides and moodboards, a PDF palette sheet, and Adobe .ase swatches — import them in Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign via Swatches → Import.
Can I share a palette with someone?
Yes — click Share Palette and you get a URL that opens your exact palette on any device, no account needed. The colors are encoded right in the link.
Can I build a palette without an image?
Yes — pick a starting color with the built-in color picker (＋ Add color on the start screen) and add more one by one with ＋ Add next to your palette. Every tool works from a single color: the live UI preview, shades & tints, harmonies, contrast checks, and all exports.
What do the WCAG contrast badges mean?
They tell you whether text is readable on a color. The WCAG accessibility standard requires a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text (AA), 7:1 for the stricter AAA level, and 3:1 for large headlines. FAIL means that combination would be hard to read.
